Spring Gardening Made Easy: How to Grow Peas Indoors

Taking into account the exceptional cold and damp conditions this year, it’s crucial for gardeners to devise strategies to maintain an upper hand. Particularly for pea cultivation, starting their growth inside could be a consideration to halt them from being significantly delayed.

There are many ways in which to sow peas indoors. You could sow them in pots, old toilet rolls, seed trays and root trainers. My favorite way to sow them indoors to get an early start is in old rain guttering.

The quickest and easiest way to sow peas is to transplant them later into the garden.

Sowing peas in rainwater guttering is fast to sow the peas and when transplanting outside. Once they have started to grow, reduce the chance of root disruption. Therefore, transplanting plants gives them the best start.

Water and feed your peas weekly, wait for them to flower and start setting their little pods. You can tell when they are ready to pick as the pod will feel full to the touch.
